Retirement Marketing & Business Development Specialist (8206)

Position Overview: The Retirement Marketing & Business Development Specialist plays a key role in supporting financial advisors in selling retirement plan services to clients. This position focuses on identifying and cultivating new business opportunities through consultative strategies, prospecting, benchmarking, and supporting the sales process. The role includes direct collaboration with financial advisors, client-facing presentations, and coordination with third-party professionals such as TPAs and accountants. Activities may include phone consultations, branch meetings, seminars, and in-person engagements. A strong understanding of retirement plan solutions and the ability to communicate their value is essential.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with financial advisors, third-party administrators (TPAs), and recordkeeping and DCIO wholesalers to uncover new business opportunities
  • Educate financial advisors on retirement plan services, helping them identify strong prospects and understand the value of incorporating retirement plans into their practice
  • Support financial advisors in client meetings to present and position retirement plan services effectively
  • Apply a consultative approach to understand client needs and recommend tailored retirement plan solutions
  • Clearly explain plan types, features, and benefits of various retirement offerings
  • Stay current on retirement plan products, tools, and regulatory changes to serve as a resource for financial advisors
  • Prepare and present proposals, sales materials, and marketing collateral to support business development efforts
  • Travel overnight up to 25% of the time, with occasional additional travel based on business needs
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience in retirement plan marketing, business development, or financial services
  • FINRA Series 7 license required
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills with financial advisors and external partners
  • Thorough understanding of retirement plan options such as 401(k), Cash Balance, and Non-Qualified Plans, along with applicable compliance regulations
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently and achieve measurable results
